Dr. NJ Delener
Members of the School of Global Business gathered in January, February and March at planning retreats to draft and formulate the school?s strategic plan, goals and objectives?including the school?s mission, vision and core values, or guiding principles, on which to focus while moving forward as a school.
Led by Dr. NJ Delener, Founding Dean of the School of Global Business, the one-day sessions were held at Chestnut Hill College and Arcadia?s King of Prussia Campus and Glenside Campus. Participants included School of Global Business faculty, staff and alumni; Dr. Erik Nelson, Founding Dean of the School of Continuing Studies; and Lorraine Brandenburger, Director of Business Initiatives, who oversees undergraduate adult business programs at the King of Prussia Campus. Undergraduate students?Mark Noth ?12,?Margaret Lyons ?12 and?Nicole Spevak ?14?and M.B.A. candidate?Joyce McDowell?also provided feedback and input during the sessions.
Aligned with the University?s Academic Affairs Strategic Plan, the School of Global Business strategic plan is a draft of defined goals and the strategies, objectives and measures required to achieve them. Faculty and staff guided participants through brainstorming sessions and group activities about the vision for the School of Global Business in 2017, specifically in areas of academic direction and opportunities, student growth and success, outreach and image, and operations and efficiency.
President Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III stopped by the third session to reinforce the impact of teaching students who will be globally prepared for the business world and the importance of involving alumni within each step moving forward. ?If [alumni] value their experience here, that?s a wonderful thing, but if they value our vision and actually jump in to help us reach our potential, that?s really exciting,? he said.
Dr. Steve Michael, Provost and VP for Academic Affairs, also joined the third session to discuss the importance of globalization and the future opportunities that Arcadia?s School of Global Business will have in international markets. President Oxholm and Michael expressed appreciation to Delener, faculty and staff for their reflection, projection and team building during the strategic planning process.
